The Japanese Baseball League Hall of Fame just added a fine left fielder and hitter to its number. The newest member of baseball's most elite group is Okitsugu Ito, who retired at the age of 41.

"I always knew I was good enough to play, but the Hall of Fame was one of the few things I never even dreamed of," said Ito at his induction ceremony. "For me to focus a lot on the individual, that's not the way I learned to play the game. Baseball is a team game. You win as a team, you lose as team. You also do so many things together, but it is not an 'I' thing."

During his illustrious career, Ito had 458 home runs among his 2209 hits, while batting .319. He played in 1754 games, scored 1199 runs and knocked in 1279 runs.
