 | League Gives Ortíz Suspension Wednesday, June 7th, 2034 The suspension of first baseman Ramón Ortíz did not sit well with the Tijuana Toros. Both Ortíz and his manager were livid at what both say is an unjustified 2-game suspension issued today by league officials. Ortíz was suspended for "inappropriate conduct" during a game against the Albuquerque Isotopes yesterday at Ballpark of Albuquerque. Ortíz was ejected from the game for arguing a strike call. "It's not right," he said, adding, "I didn't do anything to deserve this. Eject me, but don't suspend me." His manager also vented his displeasure. "Arguments go on all the time, face-to-face, and there's not a suspension. To be suspended is ridiculous. That's bull." Ortíz did more than just argue the call, he threw his bat at the feet of the umpire and walked off the field. That is the main reason the league suspended him. This year Ortíz is hitting .255 with 53 hits, 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and has scored 17 runs. |   |
