 | Flores Sizzles in No-Hitter Saturday, June 24th, 2034 Ithaca Ice Cubes starter Héctor Flores said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.
"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Flores recalled.
The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.
The Ithaca right-hander no-hit the London Jesters 4-0 at Jesters Ballpark, finishing with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts, facing only 30 batters.
"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Flores admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."
Checking out his stats for the season, Flores has notched 4 wins and 5 losses in 15 starts, 3.24 ERA and struck out 90 batters in 86 innings. | |
