The Des Moines Riverboats have officially captured the crown, the 8th in franchise history. "We've got a team that can do it all and we think do it just as well as anyone in the league," said first baseman Tommy Stanfield. "I hope no one is taking us lightly once the playoffs start." Certainly the team's division crown will garner them a fair bit of respect, as the 79-38 record puts the club in position for the franchise's 6th NFBL Single A championship. "You never get tired of being in the playoffs," said manager Gary Williams. "This is what you play for." |   |
