Victory Pushes Beaneaters Record to 59-44
|
The Philadelphia Quakers got a superb performance from pitcher Sam Lahoda, but the Boston Beaneaters still won the game, 2-0. Lahoda was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball. Lou Murray got the win, improving to 6-6. He held the Quakers to no earned runs on 2 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 4. The Beaneaters bumped their record to 59-44 with this latest triumph.
The Beaneaters got a big at-bat from second baseman Ijsbert Kost. For the game, Kost was 1-4. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 120th hit of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.
"I like what I saw today," said Boston manager Sergio Garza, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
