| Cole Excels, But Spiders Win | The Cleveland Spiders overcame a good performance by Philadelphia first baseman Clayton Cole to knock off Philadelphia, 15-12, at Myers Field. Cole hit 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. Will Taylor finished the game for Cleveland and earned his 3rd save. The 4th-place Spiders lifted their record to 18-19.
The Spiders got a big at-bat from third baseman Pedro Peña. For the game, Peña was 1 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Cleveland a 13-12 lead.
