| Pilots Clip Whales in Tight Contest | The Seattle Pilots defeated the Chicago Whales, 9-7, at Koufax Park. Seattle first baseman Lou Jackson was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1 for 2 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Stanley Brown finished the game for Seattle and earned his 8th save. The Whales fall to 13-19 and continue their lackluster start in 2034.
The Pilots got a big at-bat from catcher Pedro Colón. For the game, Colón was 1-2 with a walk, while adding 4 RBI. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 11th hit of the season gave Seattle a 8-6 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Colón. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
