| Stars Hold Off Superbas, 5-4 | Brooklyn right fielder Alan Colson had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Hollywood at Manse Park. Colson went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jesús Salazar picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 3-3. Steve Cahill earned save number 4.
The Stars beat the Superbas with some clutch hitting. The single by Ryan Elmore in the top of the sixth is a good example. With two down, Elmore gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he came through with the big hit.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Elmore told the Hollywood News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
The win boosts the Stars to 24-29. The loss puts the Superbas at 27-28.
