| Home Handcuffs Bayou Rats, Spiders Seize 1-0 Advantage in R1 | The Cleveland Spiders started the League Championship Series in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Houston Bayou Rats in a walk-off in the 12th inning. Cleveland took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Ty Home. The left-hander threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which gave the Spiders a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Late in the game, first baseman Juan García had a big at-bat for Cleveland. In the bottom of the 12th, he hit a run-scoring single off Jim Mackenzie. The play gave the Spiders a 3-2 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Home said after the game.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Sockalexis Stadium. Slated to start are Emílio Guerra for the Houston Bayou Rats and Carlos Castro for the the Cleveland Spiders.
