| Quakers Come Up Short at Seattle | The Seattle Pilots relied on the hitting of left fielder Tsuyoshi Yoshida to stop the Philadelphia Quakers, 6-5. For the game, Yoshida went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ronald McGruder got the win, improving to 3-6. He worked 8 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Stanley Brown notched his 20th save in 24 chances.
Yoshida had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 curveball from Chris Benton, he banged a 2-run single to left-center, giving the Pilots a 6-4 lead. It was the 56th hit of the year for Yoshida.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Yoshida told the Seattle News.
Seattle is now 33-37, Philadelphia 38-32.
