| Yoshida Delivers Walk-Off Win for Pilots | The Koufax Park faithful were treated to a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Boston Beaneaters got a superb performance from left fielder Mike Jones, but the Seattle Pilots still won the game, 8-7. Jones was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Seattle reliever Nobuyori Sato picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-1. Miguel Gonzáles was collared with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Seattle left fielder Tsuyoshi Yoshida, facing Miguel Gonzáles, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Pilots the 8-7 win.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Yoshida told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
With the win over Boston, the Pilots improved to 34-38.
