| Spiders Lose to Redbirds, 6-3 | Rochester Redbirds starter Matt Shaw was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Cleveland Spiders, 6-3. Shaw, the winner, moves to 10-3. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Oscar Gimenez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 29 save opportunities.
Perry Doyle helped out the Rochester cause in the top of the seventh inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Rochester manager Sergio Wilson.
Rochester is now 45-27, 11½ games up in the Division 1.
