| Multi-HR Game for Thompson in 5-4 Win | The Chicago Whales downed the Rochester Redbirds, 5-4, at Rochester Stadium. The Whales were led by Jack Thompson, who captured player of the game honors. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Eric Mathis earned his 4th save in 6 chances. Chicago now has a 8-game win streak.
Thompson had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Oscar Gimenez, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Whales a 5-4 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Thompson.
