Barrera goes 3-for-4 as Pilots Squeeze Past Chicago

The Seattle Pilots beat the Chicago Whales, 4-3 at Wrigley Field, in part due to right fielder Alfonso Barrera, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Ángelo Gutiérrez got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances. Seattle is now 55-58, Chicago 47-65.

Barrera had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the top of the sixth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Pilots went on to win.

Chicago manager Masamichi Noguchi said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
