| Superbas Rally For Late Win Over Whales | The Brooklyn Superbas picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Chicago Whales, 5-4. Starting pitcher Bryan Russell played a key role in the triumph. Brooklyn reliever Will White picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Brad Jenkins took the loss. Oscar Conner earned his 3rd save in 3 chances.
The Superbas beat the Whales with some clutch hitting. The double by Chris Howell in the top of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Howell gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he came through with the big hit.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Howell told the Brooklyn Chronicle.
The last-place Whales have lost 7 straight games.
