| Stars Fall Short, 4-3, at Philadelphia | Philadelphia starter Carlos Reyes had a strong outing against the Hollywood Stars at Myers Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Reyes, now 10-7. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 8. The Quakers bumped their record to 64-52 with this latest triumph.
Jorge Méndez had a big run-scoring single for the Quakers in the bottom of the second inning. With Philadelphia leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Bob Cotton and stroked the single to left. It was his 135th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Quakers ahead, 2-0.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Reyes.
