| Great Effort by Pilots RF Dean Not Enough in 6-5 Loss | Seattle right fielder John Dean was sensational. He went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Houston beat the Pilots, 6-5. Dean was named the player of the game despite the loss. Octávio Sánchez, the winner, improved to 15-6. He held the Pilots to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 1. The Bayou Rats bumped their record to 61-57 with this latest triumph.
Had Diego Reyes not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Reyes hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Bayou Rats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Reyes told the Houston Bulletin.
