| Whales Solve Stars, 6-4 | The Chicago Whales defeated the Hollywood Stars, 6-4, in Robinson League action at Wrigley Field, with Chicago pitcher Juan Ramírez named player of the game. Eric Mathis notched his 6th save in 9 chances. The Whales raised their record to 48-73.
Chicago grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases empty, Jack Thompson delivered a solo home run, to make it 5-4 in favor of the Whales.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Whales manager Masamichi Noguchi. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
