Gonzáles Sharp, Whitewashes Quakers

Juan Gonzáles kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Miami X Giants were all smiles after winning 3-0 against the Philadelphia Quakers at Myers Field today. The left-handed Gonzáles gave up no runs in his start, permitted 2 hits and had 5 strikeouts.

"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Gonzáles said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."

Gonzáles has made 26 starts so far this year and put up a 11-3 won-lost record with a 3.87 ERA. In 156 innings he has allowed 154 hits, walked 36 and struck out 119.
