| Bayou Rats Lose to Superbas, 4-2 | The Brooklyn Superbas overcame a good performance by Houston second baseman Josh Simpson to knock off Houston, 4-2, at The Rats' Nest. Simpson was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Bryan Russell was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Dan Westberry got the save, his 29th in 34 chances.
The Superbas got a big at-bat from catcher Bobby Godwin. For the game, Godwin went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 80th hit of the season gave Brooklyn a 3-2 lead.
Godwin told a Brooklyn Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
