Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Raúl Ortíz, the St. Louis Perfectos defeated the Oakland Oaks, 7-4. Ortíz was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Perfectos. Pat Colwill notched his 35th save in 39 chances. The 4th-place Oaks have lost 4 straight games.

The Perfectos got a lift from second baseman Steve Baker who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Adrian Dunn. It was his 35th walk of the season and put St. Louis in front, 1-0.
