| Beaneaters Sneak Past Spiders, 3-2 | A 3-RBI performance from Reagan Varner, who is tied for 3rd in the GL in stolen bases with 28, helped the Boston Beaneaters beat the Cleveland Spiders, 3-2. Rick Gates notched his 27th save in 31 chances. Boston is in 5th place in the Division 1 with a record of 61-73.
Varner had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Ty Home, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Beaneaters a 2-1 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Varner.
