| Bayou Rats Lose, 8-6, at Manse Park | The Brooklyn Superbas topped the Houston Bayou Rats, 8-6, in Gehrig League action at Manse Park. The player of the game was Brooklyn shortstop Alonso Robles. Brooklyn goes to 59-76, Houston to 71-64.
Robles contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Brooklyn in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 2-0, Robles took a fastball from Ward Velásquez and stroked the home run to left-center. His 53rd home run of the season allowed the Superbas to leap in front, 3-2.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Brooklyn manager Chad Zerbe.
