| Beaneaters Best Bayou Rats in Pitching Duel | The rain came, as predicted, but the Boston Beaneaters and Houston Bayou Rats were able to complete their ballgame.
The Boston Beaneaters went home winners at South End Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Alan Lindsey. Lindsey silenced the Houston Bayou Rats, enabling Boston to grab the 2-1 win. Lindsey got the win, improving to 9-10. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Lindsey allowed 1 earned run.
The Beaneaters got a big at-bat from right fielder Richard Myers. For the game, Myers went 2-4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 122nd hit of the season gave Boston a 2-1 lead.
Lindsey told a Boston Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The 5th-place Beaneaters raised their record to 65-81.
