| Pilots Need Extra Frames to Get Past Redbirds | Jesús Chávez helped his team muscle past the Rochester Redbirds, 7-5. In the game, the Seattle third baseman was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI. Seattle reliever Stanley Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 3-8. Eddie Kern absorbed the loss. The 'W' lifts Seattle's record to 74-88.
Chávez had a game-changing single in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 fastball from Eddie Kern, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Pilots a 6-5 lead. It was the 10th hit of the year for Chávez.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Chávez, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
