| Stars Top Whales Behind Cotton, 1-0 | Hollywood pitcher Bob Cotton did his part in helping his team beat the Chicago Whales, 1-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Berry Bychyk notched his 29th save in 31 chances. The winning streak has now reached 10 games for the Stars.
Cotton, who was born in Aurora, Colorado, threw 110 pitches over 8 innings, while allowing no earned runs.
"I had a good game plan," said Cotton. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Drees van Straaten said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
