 | Sánchez Takes Home GL Cy Young Award Sunday, November 5th, 2034 The Houston Bayou Rats have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Octávio Sánchez, this year's Gehrig League Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Sánchez compiled a 22-6 record in 34 starts, tallied 290 strikeouts in 241.2 innings and recorded a 2.38 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .209 batting average against him. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jacob White of the Philadelphia Quakers finished second in voting, while Carl Hall of the Boston Beaneaters finished third.
