It had already been a very special season for Miami's Ernesto López, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake. All season long Ernesto López gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .337 as he collected 202 hits, 34 doubles, 1 triple, 61 home runs and 141 RBIs. He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Sergio Portillo of the Philadelphia Quakers finished second in voting, while Jeremy Beasley of the Cleveland Spiders finished third.
