Spiders Drop Another One
|
The Cleveland Spiders wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Claude Mosley, falling 1-0 to the Boston Beaneaters at South End Grounds. The Spiders, at 43-81, have lost 5 in a row.
The Beaneaters got a big at-bat from catcher Andrés Martínez. For the game, Martínez went 1-3. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 5th hit of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.
Martínez told a Boston Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
