| Elías Socks it to Whales, Cracks 5 Hits | Even as a kid, Alonso Elías said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Juliet Gunn Field today, Elías showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 28-year-old center fielder had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the St. Louis Perfectos, helping his team knock off the Chicago Whales by a score of 6-4.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Alonso Elías singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
