| X Giants Jolt Whales with Late Rally | Miami pitcher Andrés Hernández did his part in helping his team beat the Chicago Whales, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Miami reliever Eldon Lewis was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Eric Mathis took the loss. Tony Hubler earned the save, his 16th.
Miami grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the eighth, when Hernández, who is tied for 6th in the GL with a 6 quality starts, hit a run-scoring single. His 37th hit of the season put the X Giants out in front, 4-3.
"I liked his command," said Miami manager Christian Tregillis. "Andrés was throwing strikes."
The X Giants bumped their record to 28-25 with this latest triumph.
