| Owen Helps Quakers Run Win Streak to 3 | The Philadelphia Quakers knocked off the Chicago Whales, 9-4, at Wrigley Field. Vince Owen, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Philadelphia won. The third baseman was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Philadelphia starter Orlando Bafana was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 7-1. The losses continue to mount for Chicago, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Owen had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the fifth inning, when he drew a walk. The Quakers went on to win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Owen. "And not try to do too much."
