Beaneaters Prevail, 2-1, Over Oakland

Oakland got a terrific performance from pitcher José López, but it wasn't enough to beat the Boston Beaneaters. Boston won the Monster Park contest, 2-1. López was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. Boston reliever Miguel Gonzáles picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. César García took the loss. Rick Gates earned his 22nd save in 25 chances.

Wilfred Richter hit a run-scoring double off César García in the top of the ninth, which put the Beaneaters in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Richter had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Richter told the Boston Bulletin.

Boston occupies 5th place in the Division 1 at 54-57.
