| Whales Bang Out 7-4 Win Versus Hollywood | The Chicago Whales and Hollywood Stars completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Chicago starter Bob Dale pitched effectively against the Hollywood Stars at Wrigley Field. The right-hander led his team to a 7-4 win. Dale, now 4-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Eric Mathis converted his 7th save in 10 tries.
Mark Merrit hit a 2-run double off Rick Hardin in the bottom of the second, which put the Whales in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Merrit had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Merrit said.
Today's win puts Chicago at 49-73, while Hollywood falls to 56-64.
