| Spiders Take Nail-Biter Over Quakers | The Cleveland Spiders did just enough to sneak past the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-1, at Sockalexis Stadium. Cleveland pitcher Ty Home earned player of the game honors. The first-place Spiders, at 75-52, now lead their division by 3˝ games.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Cleveland second baseman Caleb Hinton, facing Jesse Boone, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Spiders the 2-1 win.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Jim Bauch, the Cleveland skipper. "This one tested us."
