| Beaneaters Win Thriller, 2-1 | The Boston Beaneaters defeated the Brooklyn Superbas, 2-1, in Gehrig League action at South End Grounds, with Boston pitcher Wes Johnson named player of the game. The 5th-place Beaneaters improved to 62-76.
The Beaneaters got a big at-bat from second baseman Jorge Marés. For the game, Marés was 1-5. In the bottom of the 11th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 27th hit of the season gave Boston a 2-1 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Johnson.
