Castro Handcuffs Perfectos, Spiders Seize 1-0 Advantage in R2 | The Federal Series got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling Cleveland Spiders taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the host St. Louis Perfectos. Cleveland right-hander Carlos Castro was marvelous at Juliet Gunn Field and was named player of the game. The Spiders now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Caleb Hinton, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2025 draft, aided the Cleveland cause with a run-scoring triple in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 doubles.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Hinton told the Cleveland Bulletin.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are José Sánchez for the Cleveland Spiders and Lou Murray for the the St. Louis Perfectos.
