X Giants Score Late to Upend Pilots, 9-6
|
The Miami X Giants dealt the Seattle Pilots a 9-6 loss at Koufax Park. José Echevarría was the star on offense. He went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The win was Harold Borghini's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Anwa Akida took the loss for Seattle. Steve Henry converted his 14th save in 17 tries.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Ron Bush came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Seattle pitcher Justin Barber, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Miami on top, 6-5.
"Feels good to get the job done," Echevarría said after the game.
The 4th-place X Giants have won 8 in a row.
