Great Effort by Pilots RF Colson Not Enough in 8-7 Loss
|
Seattle right fielder Alan Colson had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-7, to Cleveland at Koufax Park. Colson slugged 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. Francisco Rosas converted his 3rd save in 3 tries. Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 32-64 record.
Had Pedro Camacho not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Camacho hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Spiders.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Seattle manager Richard Long. "But we decided not to take it."
