Victory Pushes Pilots Record to 52-49
|
The Seattle Pilots racked up a win at Gilmore Field, bumping off the Hollywood Stars, 4-1. Brian Boggs, who started for Seattle, pitched effectively for his team. Boggs got the win, improving to 8-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Boggs allowed no earned runs. With the win, the Pilots improved to 52-49.
The Pilots got a big at-bat from third baseman Alonso Robles. For the game, Robles went 3-5 with 2 triples. He scored 2 times. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 4th triple of the season gave Seattle a 1-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Hollywood skipper John Novinsky, "and it cost us."
