| Costello, Whales Too Much for Beaneaters | Getting a good performance from center fielder Pedro Costello, the Chicago Whales defeated the Boston Beaneaters, 10-7. Costello was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 for the Whales. Chicago reliever Andrés Morales picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Jarred Vázquez was saddled with the loss. Chicago is now 24-38. Boston is 32-30.
Costello had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-2 splitter from Jarred Vázquez, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Whales a 8-7 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Costello.
"It feels good to get this one," Costello told the Chicago Herald.
