| X Giants Lose, 7-2, at South End Grounds | Behind a solid performance from center fielder Reagan Varner, the Boston Beaneaters defeated the Miami X Giants, 7-2. Varner was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs for the Beaneaters. Adrien Chabot got the win, improving to 5-9. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 1 run, while striking out 4 and walking 2. The Beaneaters are now 58-69, while the X Giants fall to 66-63.
Varner had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning, when he hit a 2-run single. The Beaneaters went on to win.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Varner told the Boston Bulletin.
