Oaks Fall Short at Hollywood
|
Oakland got a terrific performance from pitcher Weldon Walker, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hollywood Stars. Hollywood won the Gilmore Field contest, 4-3. Walker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball. Ben Henderson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Lyle Dailey was tagged with the loss. Earning his 4th save for Hollywood was Darren Frazier.
Manuel Rangel drove in one run for Hollywood. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Víctor Saucedo. It was his 7th RBI of the season.
"It's good to win," Rangel told the Hollywood Daily. "I like to have fun doing it."
Hollywood has a record of 12-13.
