Superbas Win at Miami, 7-4
|
Brooklyn right fielder John Dean was instrumental in his team's 7-4 win over the Miami X Giants. Dean, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, went 1-3 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Superbas. The winner was Barry Charite, who threw 103 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Brooklyn's record now stands at 15-23, placing them 5th in the Division 1.
Dean had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Daniel Moore, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the Superbas a 5-3 lead. It was the 8th double of the year for Dean.
When asked about his performance, Dean said, "It probably won't silence the critics."
