Pilots Turn Back Oakland, 8-6
|
The Seattle Pilots defeated the Oakland Oaks, 8-6, at Monster Park. Andrew Bryant was named player of the game for Seattle. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. Seattle reliever Eduardo Contreras picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Pete Booth absorbed the loss. Ben Hernández, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Bryant had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 1-2 fastball from Aaron Rutledge, he banged a bases-clearing double to center, giving the Pilots a 6-4 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Bryant.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Bryant.
The Pilots bumped their record to 23-21 with this latest triumph.
