Victory Pushes Pilots Record to 40-37
|
The Seattle Pilots beat the Philadelphia Quakers, 9-4, at Myers Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Alan Colson, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Seattle reliever Ed Porter picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sam Lahoda shouldered the loss. The third-place Pilots raised their record to 40-37.
Colson had a key at-bat for Seattle early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 22nd home run of the season and gave Seattle an early 2-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Colson, "and today was a good one for us."
