Pilots Score Late, Stun Oaks, 12-4
|
Seattle played host to Oakland at the friendly confines of Koufax Park.
Oakland got a terrific game from center fielder Wilfred Richter. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Seattle, 12-4. Richter was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The Pilots bumped their record to 41-38 with this latest triumph.
Andrew Bryant went 1 for 1 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch for Seattle. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Aaron Rutledge. It was his 26th walk of the season.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Bryant.
