Spiders Win at Philadelphia, 6-3
|
The Cleveland Spiders faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Ernest Fountain, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Myers Field by a final score of 6-3. Fountain went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Cleveland reliever Francisco Rosas picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ernest Fountain shouldered the loss. Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 28-56 record.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Norishige Mizutani, the top prospect . Mizutani contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Cleveland up, 3-2.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Philadelphia manager Ken Samurakami. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
