Oaks Bang Out 8-2 Win Versus San Diego
|
The Oakland Oaks grabbed a 8-2 win over the San Diego Padres at PETCO Park. Oakland left fielder John Hucknall went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Ronald McGruder picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 4-1. The Padres, now 8-15, continue their slow start.
The Oaks got a big at-bat from catcher Akihiko Kobayashi. For the game, Kobayashi was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Oakland a 2-0 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Hucknall. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
