Stars Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Quakers
|
Hollywood starter Jake Price pitched effectively against the Philadelphia Quakers at Gilmore Field. The left-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. Hollywood reliever Ryan Burch picked up the win to move to 1-0. Sam Lahoda suffered the loss. Darren Frazier converted his 13th save in 13 tries.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman Clint Jones, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, got hit by a pitch. The Stars went on to win.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Price.
The 4th-place Stars improved to 28-29.
